  My Meeting with the Elders...

  it is most likely still very far away but i wanted to share with you guys one of the things i am thinking about doing when/if i do meet.

  i plan on getting my chl (concealed carry permit)

  then i am going to get a shoulder holster.

  Is this a case of "My gun is bigger than your Doctrine?"

  I fear your meeting with them is a sham on your part as well. You don't seem to want to talk with them, I agree, but what's the point of showing off how well armed you are? If I were the elder visiting I would certainly laugh inside at the powerplay you were trying to display. Sure, I'd leave your house pretty quick, but if that's what you want, why not just cancel the meeting and you wont have to spend money on a holster?

  as a jw, were you convinced that you knew more theologically than "those in christendom", yet hadn't really even read the bible ?

  more than say, a monk who over a thousand years ago hand wrote one, and read it everyday ?

  beirut, lebanon (reuters) -- boats and buses left lebanon wednesday carrying thousands of foreigners fleeing the eight-day-old middle east conflict.

  the following are some facts and figures on the evacuation plans, broken down by country:

  about 25,000 australians with dual nationality are in lebanon and about 7,500 have registered to evacuate.

  Very informative. Looks like Lebanon is the place to leave at the moment. I wonder how long before the U.N. sends in troops to deal with this. I think the U.S. knew about this little attack before it happened so they could formulate a response. Israel and the U.S. are pretty tight. There seems to always be something going on in the background with these two nations.

  Thanks for the info, wouldn't have seen it otherwise.

  the elder i talked to a while back just couldn't let it be and now want's to have another discussion.

  he now wants to meet with with another elder from the hall.

  the elder's handbook gives specific areas in which tactics might be developed by some to avoid unwanted disfellowshippings - .

  the following appears in that manual - .

  baptized persons who have not associated for some time .. if you learn of serious wrongdoing on the part of such a. person, the matter should be investigated if it poses a. threat to the congregation's cleanness and welfare or causes.

  Trust me, I know from personal experience with that book and that subject in particular. The Elders make the decision as to whether you are a danger. The fact that it has come to thier attention that there maybe wrongdoing is usually enough to show you have a possible "leavening" effect on the congregation. You're outta there!

  They would say to him that he's already returned invisibly and send him packing. If he did a miracle or two they would call him a fraud. If he would agree to a Bible study they would probably let him clean the bathrooms at the circuit assembly to teach him humility...

  why won't witnesses use tv or radio?

  the radio was used extensively in the 1920's and 1930's.

  by 1933 the society was using 403 radio stations to broadcast bible lectures.

  later, the use of the radio was largely replaced by increased house-to-house visits by witnesses with portable phonographs and recorded bible talks.

  You are right. I had about thirty of those on reel to reel that I put on cassette. (They were from a circuit library being dumped years ago. A relative rescued them and had me put them on cassette.) I think I threw them out. They were fun to listen too, some of the principles on how to treat others were quite upbuilding. Honestly, I liked the way they treated each other. Some were hilarious. They had canned Bible lectures on them as well. They sounded as if they were being read by amatuers more often than not. If I have them I might put them on CD. I only like the dramas, they were about 15 minutes and were almost a soap opera of sorts.

  I'll have to look for them. I really think I threw them out when I decided that cassettes and Watchtower crap belonged in the circular file.

  I was there. I saw it come and go. I know that the society whipped up furor over the thought of Maggiededdon in 1975. They are the most pathetic bunch of liars you could ever meet. My circle of friends knew the scripture that says, "No man knows the day or the hour..." and we never beleived it would come in 1975. People were going over the baptism questions in groups there were so many trying to get on the "Ark". Pathetic.
